| Hundreds Rally in Support of Transportation Funding Leading bipartisan Members of Congress joined hundreds of members of the transportation construction industry and its suppliers in Washington, DC, on Tuesday to support the passage of a multi-year, fully funded transportation bill. The second annual RALLY for ROADS brought attention to the impact transportation and highway investment has on our nation’s economy.
“America’s infrastructure is vital to economic growth and job creation,” said Kerri Leininger, a RALLY for ROADS spokesperson and NRMCA senior vice president of government and political affairs. “America’s transportation needs are too great, and its impact on the nation’s economic health and well-being are too substantial to delay passage of a surface transportation bill any longer.”
Ten members of congress participated in the event, including House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-FL) and chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Many employees of NRMCA member companies also attended the rally (shown above, near the Washington Monument), including Aggregate Industries, BASF, Berks Products, Cemex, Inc., Centre Concrete, Chaney Enterprises, Essroc Ready Mix, Grace Construction Products, Holcim (US), Lafarge, Lehigh/Hanson Cement, Rock Hill Concrete, Inc., Superior Concrete, a U.S. Concrete Co., Titan America and Vulcan Materials.
| First Ready Mix Concrete Solution for Preventing Floor Covering failures. U.S. Concrete Introduces the First Ready Mix Concrete Solution for Preventing Concrete Floor Covering Failures
Aridus(R) Rapid Drying Concrete
HOUSTON, TX, Mar 12, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Developed and patented by USC Technologies, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S. Concrete, Inc. /quotes/zigman/3871893/quotes/nls/uscr USCR -2.37% , Aridus(R) Rapid Drying Concrete is the first ready-mix concrete solution for preventing floor covering failures, an industry-wide problem that cost millions of dollars annually in damage, downtime, repair and replacement.
Moisture from concrete is often overlooked as a leading cause of concrete floor covering failures. Aridus(R) proprietary concrete mix helps prevent moisture problems by drying faster than conventional concrete mixes, allowing flooring materials to be installed on concrete in 30 days or less. The result is a faster and more effective floor covering installation that helps keep critical projects on schedule and significantly reduces the risk of liabilities for owners, designers and builders. Aridus(R) is suitable for a wide range of project types, including schools, hospitals, retail and offices. In addition, it is an effective solution in both wet and dry climates.
"Aridus(R) is an extremely innovative concrete technology and the result of over five years of research and development," said William Sandbrook, President and Chief Executive Officer of U.S Concrete, Inc. "Our objective was to address the problem from a concrete standpoint and provide a more reliable and long term solution to moisture problems in concrete floors."
Wally Johnson, U.S. Concrete's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, added, "Current solutions are mainly late stage treatments or topical solutions that basically seal the moisture in. The moisture remains there, and remains a potential problem that can emerge. Aridus(R) Rapid Drying Concrete helps prevent moisture problems in concrete floors before they arise."
